Why to people give thanks (prayer) to god for their food?
by sinis ini find it completely ironic that people thank god for food and clothing, when if you look at the ot in genesis you see how yahweh curses the ground and tells man that he will work his ass off for food, shelter, daily life.
why are people giving thanks to a god who knowingly made life hell to begin with?
couldn't it be said that man works for his own food and that he should be thanking himself?

According to the Baptists, I'm headed straight to hell to be with my god the devil. So...umm...no, I don't do the heaven thing
I mean really, how uninformed can some of them be, anyway?
Always on the lookout for more friends

They aren't trained well in how to give public speeches like the preachers in other religions. They've had that professional speaking training and are good!

how can we serve our loving father in the heavens?
by jehovahsheep ineven though most of us have severed our ties with the wts we still love god and want to please him.i would like to know in what direction some of you have gone?

Oh, and I also go to the Unitarian Universalist church. It's a very positive atmosphere and is all inclusive.

Actually, church hopping is a good idea to try on different ones to gage the fit of your family and the social atmosphere. A good fit is important like good shoes. I found mine, but it isn't Christian. It teaches the same moral things, though. No sermons as I hate them. I found my home with Wicca after searching different Christian churches and others. It takes time to find a good fit.

Will Women Eventually Start Being Used As Servants?
by White Dove inas the men in the congregations suffer from burnout and quit helping out as ms and elders, do you think the situation of shrinkage will become so desperate that the wts will be forced to start using women in positions of authority?
they have a huge commodity that they are refusing to use.
that makes no sense at all.

Which is worse, Adam's sin, or God's reaction to his sin?
by Dirty Rat inwhen you look at all the pain and suffering in this world, and then wonder why god decided that mankind should pay for one man's sin, with interest on top of that, it's revolting.. no way can the added pain and suffering of billions of people equal the fault that adam did.. .
ps: this is jh .

Very good! I'll use this in talking with someone. Fruit=irreplacible(sic), billions of people=clonable in new system.

I have a theory regarding Elders
by Peppermint inthere has been much talk about the reasons for the demise of the book study.
the society claim rising gas/petrol prices, which of course is not the real reason.
some here think its down to declining numbers of elders and those who are reaching out.

Oh, and "bitch" over here NEVER means a female dog. It's a relatively bad word for a mean and/or selfish woman over here.
Hey, am I a hi-jacker?

American-isms? Since I'm an American, before becoming an adult, I had no idea we were different from the rest of the world as Americans. This is interesting. I've never thought about -isms before. What are some American-isms? OK, I know the English like to say "jolly good" and "bloody this or that" but what do Americans say that is unique to...us? By the way, "bloody" to English is like what to Americans? I've always wondered why bloody is a bad word over there.
